Essential Oils for Third Eye Sixth Chakra Balance

Ajna—sixth or brow—chakra, also called the third eye, is responsible for intuition and soul knowledge. A balanced sixth chakra lets you trust your intuition and pursue your soul path with confidence. You are perceptive and open-minded. An out-of-balance chakra leads to mistrusting your intuition, overthinking and rationalizing, forgetfulness, and closed-mindfulness.

Essential Oils for Third Eye Balance

Symbolic representation of the sixth chakra with the words Essential Oils for the Third Eye Chakra.

Recommended best essential oils for third eye balance from Aromatherapy and Subtle Energy Techniques:

  • Anise clears away old thought forms and promotes intuition.
  • Basil clears the mind, strengthens the ability to concentrate, and improves ability to calmly make decisions.
  • Bay laurel helps clear mental blocks and opens the mind to new thoughts and perspectives.
  • Benzoin steadies and focuses the mind and helps bring buried thoughts to consciousness.
  • Cedarwood helps clear and steady the mind and promotes a strong, calm, positive state of mind. The oil encourages dreaming.
  • Clary sage increases dreaming, inspires, and supports intuition.
  • Elemi opens the mind to mystical experiences.
  • Eucalyptus inspires, clarifies thoughts and perceptions, and supports positive thoughts and the ability to concentrate.

  • Lemongrass boosts mental clarity and flexibility and supports intuition.
  • Peppermint stimulates the conscious mind and encourages clear perception, awareness, and understanding. The oil also inspires and encourages insights, supports the ability to concentrate, and promotes dreaming.
  • Rosemary energizes and clears the mind. This oil enhances memory; promotes clear thoughts, insights, and understanding; and protects the mind from negative influences.
  • Spruce helps develop intuition, brings objectivity and clarity to the intuitive mind, and encourages new insights.

The book lists common imbalances with additional balancing third eye chakra essential oils, along with symptoms of congested energy with suggested oils. I recommend this book for the most comprehensive suggestions about essential oils for chakras.

Subtle Aromatherapy states that using rosemary with appropriate visualization or intent connects you with the highest levels of mind and clarifies your understanding of spiritual truths. Helichrysum deepens intuition and facilitates access to the unconscious, while thyme has the opposite effect, simulating conscious and intellectual effort. Juniper assists clairvoyance but only when applied for altruistic ends.
