Essential Oils for Heart Chakra Balance

Anahata—the fourth or heart—chakra is the place of inner guidance and the higher emotions such as love, trust, empathy, and kinship. An out-of-balance heart chakra either suppresses love or causes it to be overabundant (a constricting love). A balanced heart chakra lets you express true love for yourself and all sentient beings.

Essential Oils for Heart Chakra Balance

Recommended best essential oils for heart chakra balance from Aromatherapy and Subtle Energy Techniques:

  • Bergamot opens the heart center and allows love and joy to radiate. The oil eases and comforts wounds of the heart, especially grief, and increases compassion for others’ suffering.
  • Helichrysum promotes compassion and patience for others and yourself.
  • Lavender calms, comforts, and stabilizes the heart and promotes compassion, forgiveness, and acceptance.
  • Mandarin uplifts the heart and helps a wounded heart joyfully engage in life.
  • Marjoram warms the heart, helps you accept emotional loss and change, and promotes sincerity and ability to give.
  • Melissa supports unconditional love and cheerfulness. The oil also comforts, eases emotional blocks from grief and shock, and promotes peace and acceptance.
  • Neroli supports love and a sense of peace and also eases grief and sorrow.
  • Rose promotes love, compassion, hope, acceptance, and patience with self and others. This oil also comforts and eases heartaches, especially for a heart wounded by grief.

The book lists common imbalances with additional balancing heart chakra essential oils, along with symptoms of congested energy with suggested oils. I recommend this book for the most comprehensive suggestions about essential oils for chakras.

Subtle Aromatherapy also recommends bergamot, melissa, and rose, plus the more unusual essential oil of inula. Use this oil to bring moral courage and assist when you are afraid to acknowledge and fully exercise your highest gifts.

This book notes inula and melissa can help release an energy blockage between the solar plexus and heart chakras, when used on the area between the two chakras. Another suggestion is jasmine to warm the heart chakra and help the heart’s function as the balance point between the upper and lower chakras.
