Essential Oils for Hand Cream
The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy suggests the following essential oils for hand cream and other aromatherapy hand products:
- Rose otto
- Rosemary
- Geranium
- Lemon
- Sandalwood
- Lime
- Patchouli
- Carrot seed
- Lavender
- Neroli
The book suggests this blend for a hand balm:
- 1/2 ounce (14 grams) cocoa butter
- 1/2 ounce beeswax
- 2 tablespoons jojoba oil
- 2 teaspoons almond oil
- 10 drops evening primrose oil
- 10 drops carrot macerated oil
- 10 drops essential oils of choice
- Melt the cocoa butter and beeswax a double boiler over low heat.
- Stir in jojoba, almond, evening primrose, and carrot oils.
- Remove from heat. Stir in essential oil. Pour into a glass container and let cool.
Note: You can make a thinner mixture by adding extra almond oil or a thicker balm by using less jojoba or almond oil.

Healing Essential Oil Hand Cream
Use this cream to soften sore, dry, or cracked skin.
- 1/4 cup aloe cream
- 1/2 teaspoon benzoin tincture or 5 drops benzoin absolute oil
- 10 drops lavender essential oil
- 10 drops palmarosa or lavender essential oil
- 10 drops sandalwood essential oil
- Place aloe cream in a small non-reactive bowl.
- In another non-reactive bowl, combine the essential oils.
- One drop at a time, stirring constantly, add the essential oil blend to the aloe cream.

Dry Hand Care Ointment
Use this ointment for dry hands with pigmentation spots:
- 25 grams (5/6 ounce or 5 teaspoons) shea butter
- 3 grams (0.1 ounce or 3/5 teaspoon) beeswax
- 2 teaspoons castor oil
- 2 teaspoons comfrey-infused oil
- 20 drops carrot seed essential oil
- 25 drops celery essential oil
- Melt the shea butter and beeswax in a double boiler.
- Stir in castor oil and comfrey infused oil.
- Immediately remove from heat.
- Let mixture start to cool and thicken slightly.
- Stir in carrot and celery essential oils.
- Pour the mixture into a small, dark-tinted glass jar.
- Let ointment cool completely and solidify before using it.

Aromatherapy Hand Cream for Dry, Rough Skin
This rich cream is for dry, rough, work-worn hands.
- 8 teaspoons beeswax pellets
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1/3 cup grapeseed or sweet almond oil
- 2 teaspoons vegetable glycerin
- 2 drops lemon essential oil
- 2 drops lavender essential oil
- In a small bowl set over a simmering pan of water, melt beeswax.
- Stir in olive and grapeseed oils
- Stir in glycerin until completely blended.
- Remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.
- Add essential oils one drop at the time, stirring well.
- Transfer mixture to an 8-ounce resealable glass jar. Store in a cold dark place for up to one year. Use as needed.

Heavy Duty Cream
Another option for rough hands:
- 2 tablespoons shaved beeswax
- 1/2 teaspoon carnuba wax
- 2 tablespoons jojoba oil
- 1 teaspoon aloe vera oil
- 10 drops vitamin E oil
- 1 to 3 drops essential oil of choice
- Melt the wax, carnuba wax, jojaba oil, and aloe vera in a double boiler over low heat.
- Remove from heat. Beat the mixture until cool and add vitamin E oil before the mixture thickens.
- Continue beating until mixture becomes creamy. Add essential oil and keep beating until cream has totally cooled.
- Spoon cream into jar and store in a cool, dark place.

Hand and Nail Butter
Use the following butter as desired, within one year of making it. Consistency may vary depending on room temperature.
- 4 tablespoons almond oil
- 2 tablespoons cocoa butter
- 1 tablespoon anhydrous lanolin
- 1 to 1-1/2 tablespoons beeswax (depending on the consistency you want)
- 40 to 50 drops of one or a combination of these essential oils: peppermint, carrot seed, rosemary, geranium, lemon, grapefruit
- In a double boiler, heat all the ingredients except the essential oils until the cocoa butter and beeswax are just melted.
- Remove from heat and stir to blend ingredients.
- Stir in the essential oils.
- Pour into clean containers.
- Let set for 12 hours before using.
