DIY Essential Oil Bathroom Cleaning Products
You can make your own essential oil bathroom cleaning products.
Essential Oil Bathroom Cleaning Sprays
Use these blends to wipe down bathroom surfaces. Spot test blends on delicate surfaces.
Note: To better disperse the essential oils in sprays, you can add a few drops of solubilizer.
Eight-Ounce Bathroom Spray
To an 8-ounce spray bottle, add the following essential oils:
- 10 drops lime
- 16 drops peppermint
- 18 drops patchouli
- 20 drops cinnamon bark
- 25 drops lemon
- 25 drops tea tree
- 30 drops may chang (Litsea cubeba)
Fill the bottle with distilled water. Shake well before each use. Use to clean shower, counters, sink, toilet, etc.

32-Ounce Bathroom Spray
- 2 tablespoons baking soda
- 2 tablespoons liquid castile soap
- 15 drops lemon eucalyptus or lemon myrtle essential oil
- 15 drops orange or lemon essential oil
- 20 drops tea tree essential oil
- 2 cups distilled water
- 32-ounce spray bottle
- Add the soap and baking soda to the bottle. Drop in the essential oils.
- Add the water. Close the bottle and shake well.
Use like any other bathroom cleaner. Shake before each use.

Lemon Palmarosa Bathroom Cleaner
- 3.5 ounces (105 ml or 7 tablespoons) distilled water
- ½ ounce (about 15 ml or 1 tablespoon) castile soap
- 12 drops lemon essential oil
- 8 drops palmarosa essential oil
- 4-ounce (120 ml) spray bottle
Combine the water, castile soap, and essential oils in the spray bottle. Shake well.
Simple Bathroom Spray
- 3/4 cup distilled water
- 2 tablespoons white vinegar
- 18 drops each: lemon, orange, and grapefruit essential oils
- 8-ounce spray bottle
Blend ingredients in the spray bottle. Shake well before each use. Spray freely and wipe with a sponge or towel. Shelf life is 1-2 months.

Toilet Essential Oil Bathroom Cleaning
Toilet Deodorizer
- 2-ounce spray bottle
- 2 tablespoons witch hazel
- 10 drops vitamin E oil
- 20 drops juniper berry essential oil
- 20 drops cypress essential oil
- 10 drops pine essential oil
- Distilled water
Blend the witch hazel, vitamin E, and essential oils in the spray bottle. Fill the bottle with distilled water. Close and then shake well.

Toilet Cleaning Scrub
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1 teaspoon castile soap
- Water or white vinegar
- 15 drops tea tree essential oil
- 15 drops lemon or eucalyptus essential oil
- Combine baking soda and castile soap.
- Stir in a little water or white vinegar to get the texture you want.
- Stir in essential oils.
- Put some of the blend on a sponge or bowl brush and scrub your toilet.

Toilet Bombs
- 1.5 cups baking soda
- 2⁄3 cup citric acid
- 2 tablespoons vinegar (slightly more in dry climates)
- 20 drops rosemary essential oil
- 20 drops lemon essential oil
- 20 drops thyme essential oil
- Molds (or a small muffin tin)
- Blend baking soda and citric acid in a medium bowl.
- Drop in essential oils.
- Spray vinegar into the bowl slowly, stirring often.
- When the mixture is moist enough to stick (but not wet) put into molds.
- Let dry for about two hours.
- Remove bombs from molds and store in a jar.
- Drop a bomb in the toilet as needed.

Scouring Cleaners
Spot test these cleaners on potentially delicate surfaces.
Scouring Powder for Sinks
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1/4 cup citric acid powder
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 15 drops lavender or sweet orange essential oil
Blend ingredients in a container. Close and shake well.
Use this powder by sprinkling a small amount into the sink and scrubbing with a damp sponge or cloth. Rinse well with plain water.
Lemony Scouring Powder
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1/2 cup pumice powder
- 25 drops lemon essential oil
Blend ingredients in a container. Close and shake well.
Sprinkle a small amount of powder onto the surface. Scrub with a damp sponge or cloth. Rinse well.

Bathroom Cleaning Scrub
- 1 cup baking soda
- 3 tablespoons castile soap
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
- 10 drops peppermint essential oil
- 15 drops orange essential oil
- 15 drops tea tree essential oil
Combine baking soda, castile soap, and white vinegar in a container. Stir in essential oils.
You will have a thick paste—if you want it thinner, add more castile soap. Place a little of the cleaner on your sponge and scrub.

Mold and Mildew Cleaning
Use proper precautions when removing mold, such as wearing a mask to avoid inhaling spores.
Bathroom Mold Remover
- 30 drops tea tree essential oil
- 1 cup baking soda
- 3 tablespoons castile soap
- Mix the baking soda and castile soap in a small container to make a paste.
- Stir in tea tree oil.
- Use about a teaspoon of this mixture on a scrubby brush or sponge. Rinse with water.

Mold/Mildew Cleaner
- 2 cups hot water
- 25 drops thyme essential oil
- 2 teaspoons citric acid powder
Blend ingredients in a spray bottle. Shake well.
To use, shake well. Spray cleaner on surfaces. Wipe clean with a damp cloth or sponge.

Deodorizing Bathroom Spray
To make a 2-ounce spray air freshener, add 4 tablespoons water and 20 drops essential oil of choice to a spray bottle. Shake vigorously before using. Two suggested blends:
For a citrus aroma:
- 8 drops grapefruit essential oil
- 7 drops lemon essential oil
- 5 drops orange essential oil
For a floral aroma:
- 5 drops geranium essential oil
- 5 drops jasmine absolute
- 10 drops lavender essential oil
